When we think of “capital”, we think of money, equipment or material to enable and build our enterprise. “Capital gains” are what we sometimes get taxed on when we make a little extra money in the stock market. Capital investments are made to start up a factory or business by…venture capitalists! However, in addition to material and monetary capital there is arguably the most important type of capital: Human intellect. What is a pile of iron ore or a sheet of steel without the human intelligence to process it and create a surgical instrument? How valuable is a huge disk drive full of telemetry data without the flight test engineer’s ability, his human intellectual capital, to interpret it and create a better test card or make an aircraft safer?
Where does the capital of human intellect come from? Well… training, education and experience, of course. How can we educate and train people to make surgical instruments and interpret telemetry data? We need tools that allow us to train more realistically, test more efficiently, and thereby, increase our human intellectual capital.
The focus of the 2015 ITEA Test Instrumentation Workshop will be “Tools, Training and Intellectual Capital”. Please join us at the 2015 ITEA TIW and share your improved processes, upgraded tools or more efficient and effective training techniques. Let us know how YOU have increased your intellectual capital to further Test and Evaluation!
Directed Energy T&E Workshop Program Description
Directed energy (DE) is an important and expanding technology area for the military. Taken to include High Energy Laser (HEL) and High Power Microwave (HPM) systems, DE is creating a new class of weapons. Military test and evaluation (T&E) is currently adapting to these radically new technologies. New measures, methods, and facilities are required for adequate T&E of these systems. Please join us for this extremely rewarding pair of workshops!
We are seeking input on the state of deployment, success and failure, best practices, and on lessons learned for the betterment of the entire test and training community. This workshop provides an opportunity for representatives from government, industry, and academia to present formal papers, display poster papers, and exhibit goods and services that are conducive to improving T&E tools, training and intellectual capital.
